Fatty to Fit Tuesday: Week Twenty

Eating

I have found it increasingly hard to bunker down and stick to my calories for this last week. I mean I usually wouldn’t go over by a lot but late night snack was ALWAYS the culprit. But today I did well. I’m still about 150 under and haven’t gone for my run.

Exercise

I bought a new Jillian Michaels DVD that was on clearance for 4 dollars. I couldn’t pass it up when they normally charge 10-20 bucks for one. It’s Jillian Michaels For Beginners Frontside DVD. I really want to start trying to tone with my running. While running is helping I know that muscle toning and weight lifting will get me much farther than just cardio exercises alone.

My running has been going alright. I actually can’t believe my first race is in 18 days. I know that there isn’t anyway I can run the whole thing but that’s okay. It’s the effort I put in and even if I mostly run it, then I win in my books. Chris is going to come and watch which I’m excited about. I wasn’t sure if it was a possibility at first because of work, but he requested off!

I’m also going to try and burn 2000 calories this week. I don’t want to overdo myself in these last couple of weeks because I know there would be a good chance that I would injure myself!

Bed Shopping

Tuesday, April 24th, 2012

I’ve been wondering lately if we should save up to get a new bed. I mean we’ve had our for years! Chris had it before we got together so that right there is at least five years. Yea, now that I think about it, if I’m wondering then it’s probably time. I mean I know that our mattress sometimes kills my back when I wake up. We really need a bed set, mattress and box spring if we decide not to go with a platform bed!

It can be hard to get out and go shopping. Especially when I have very young kids and no car whenever my husband is at work. So once I started thinking about it, I started looking around online. That way I could get price ideas, reviews and things like that. I mean of course I would want to try a bed out in a store first but in my experience, I can usually buy online for cheaper.

I found a UK based site called Bedstar. Even though I’m not in the country, I was curious about prices comparably. I like to see how much stuff can be different places. I found a bed that would called a super king which is in between a queen and a king in America for $350! That is a pretty great price compared to some places near myself!. And of course if you’re in the UK then buying online with BedStar Shop may just be for you! I know if I lived there I would love to buy one of those, if it fit our comfort needs of course.

This post was sponsored and is written in association with Bedstar. However all opinions are true and my own!

Why buy when you can rent?

Thursday, April 19th, 2012

Taking the few college courses that I have, I know that it gets expensive fast. Especially if you’re paying out of state or district fees. Along with that comes the cost of text books that you need for your classes. I know when I was figuring money at least three hundred went towards books.

That’s a pretty big chunk of change that you’re just essentially going to be wasting if you decide not to keep your books afterwards. It’s smart to buy if you wanted to have the book for reference later on but what if you don’t really care for the book?

If you don’t really want to keep it then I would suggest renting your text books from a company like CampusBookRentals. What I personally thought was awesome about them was the fact that they shipped to and from you for free. Also they have three rental options to choose from. You can pick Semester (130 days), Quarter (85 days), or Summer (55 days). They also let you highlight the books which I know some other companies don’t.

You can check out the prices for the books on their site to see just how much you would save depending on the length of your rental needs. I also like that they have a link to Amazon if the book is available through there to buy. It makes it convenient if you decided to just buy instead.

Another nice aspect of this place is that for every textbook rented through them they donate to a children’s medical organization called Operation Smile. I don’t know know about you but I always enjoy when I see a company partnered with a charity, especially when it’s for kids.

When I am able to finally go back to school, I’m sure this will be the company I look at for most of my books.

I received monetary compensation for this post. All opinions expressed are my own.

#Blogher12 Goals

Thursday, April 19th, 2012

I have goals. I mean pretty much every area of my life has a goal I would like to obtain. Blogher’12 this year is no different. Last year, when I pretended to give a crap about my health, I said I wanted to be 250 by blogher. Yea… that didn’t even come close to happening.

1-Weight
This year my goal is to be in the 230’s. In the next four months it’s completely obtainable. I think it will be close. I know I can do it and it will be a lot of hard work but to have the selection of cute clothes that I haven’t had in a really long time will be a big motivation for me.

2-Clothes
I had the idea that I would be about a size 18/20. Well that was what I wanted to be and I know that it really couldn’t be too hard since I’m already wearing a size 22 now. Except while we were in the Dells I got curious when we went to an outlet mall. We went into an Old Navy there and I wanted to see how far away from a size 20 I was. You know, to see if it would fit over my ass. Yes, they did and I found two pairs that buttoned and zipped! So now I’m shooting for about a size 16/18.

3-Blog
I would like to make this bad boy better. I mean I think it’s better already because of my stellar design from Sarah at One Starry Night. I have loved her work since I started to blogging almost two years ago. I would also like to keep up on my posting. I know that there are times when I slack because I get pulled into reading but I would like to try and fight that.

4-Running
Blogher has a 5k going on at 6 am Friday the 3rd of August. I plan to run the whole thing. No stopping. I know I have my two other 5k’s before this one but I don’t think I’ll be able to run the first one all the way through. I think that it will be a stop and go effort. Being big right makes it painful to run sometimes. I’m hoping with the extra weight off and the extra training time I can improve my speed and running capabilities.
Those are my Goals for now. I’m so excited for New York it’s insane. Just ask my husband and I’m sure he’ll tell you ow I never shut the fuck up about going. Ha!

Are you going to Blogher’12? If so do you have any goals for yourself?
