A day out before a crazy week

Friday, March 8th, 2013

We’ve had a pretty crappy week. Literally for this mom because both kids had a horrendous stomach bug that just wouldn’t seem to die. On top of sickly children, I had mid terms and a gigantic speech this week. I don’t even know how I survived both without failing horribly. Luckily I grabbed A’s on both!

Before it became maddeningly hectic, we took the kids out to the mall for the day. We walked around, had ice cream(frozen yogurt for the adults) and rode the carousel. It was a really fun time and got us out of the house for a few hours while it’s been freezing out.

I used my new T3. Have I mentioned how much I adore this camera? I usually got decent pictures of the kids with my old camera but I feel like they come much more often now.

How was your week?

Fall Family Night

Monday, October 15th, 2012

Fall is my favorite season by far. I wish I could live in fall all year round. I love the rainy days. I love the changing leaves and all the baked deliciousness. I just adore the season. Fall is also the time when we seem to get out and do more than just the park. I think it’s because of all the festivals and community days that happen.

Recently, my brother in law’s school put on a fall family night. It was nice. It had been a while since I did the school fest thing and this one was different than others I’ve gone to. With my younger sister and brother’s school, they charged for tickets to do things. It was a way to raise money for the school. This one had most of the items donated and all of it was free with the exception of dinner I believe.

They had pumpkins to decorate, little ghost crafts that I will recreate for the blog in about a week, make your own caramel apples, games, bounce houses and a fun tractor ride.

Emmie loved the tractor ride and wanted to go on it again and again. Landon wanted to do the games. While we were only able to do one, he loved it. It was beer pong. Well without the beer and you won a fish for sinking a ball in the cups. He had a blast and won two fish. One for him and one for his sister. We’ve named them Phineas and Ferb.

The kids played on the play ground for a while and even struck a pose for me!

My favorite picture of the night though was a family picture my mother in law snapped of all of us. It’s rare that I’m able to get in the shot with everyone so it was a nice change of pace. I love it so much in fact that I’m going to get it printed and hang it up!

It was a really wonderful night and I can’t wait to do something just as fun next weekend!

How is your fall going? Are you doing a lot with the family?

My Little Girl is getting so Big

Wednesday, May 23rd, 2012

Emaree is about two years and nine months old. Minus the rat tail we snipped off and the two times she ever had her bangs trimmed, she’s never had a real hair cut. Her hair was long and gorgeous. It had the most amazing and adorable curl from her baby hair.

But with summer upon us, she really needed it cut. It gets anywhere from 80-100 degrees here and it’s humid. I know how unfun that is even with your hair up. Not to mention our car doesn’t currently have air, so if we go out and for some reason forgot to put her hair up…well that would such for her. She has also been wanted to get it cut for a while. Ever since Landon got his cut, she wanted to follow his foot steps of course. She is always trying to do everything big brother does.

I am a very sad mama now though. Her curls are completely gone. She has a little curve on the bottoms but that’s it. My mom informed me this weekend that that is exactly what happened to my hair. My mother in law, who cut her hair, at least took a few of the curls and I have them saved. When it was done I kind of wanted to start crying. My baby is growing up so fast.
