Fitness is a sweaty mess. You have to worry about your headphones, hydration, playlists and equipment. My problem is when I start going harder, my headphones seem to slip. I have to readjust them a million times and they just don’t keep the right amount of suction. I’m not sure if that’s because they ear buds are too big or if it’s just the material. Regardless it’s a huge pain in the ass to readjust when all I want to do is focus on beating the fat away.

Luckily though I don’t have to worry so much about it anymore because I have some of the new KOSS Fit Series Headphones!

I was given one of each set to try. The first thing I have to tell you that I love the colors. I especially love the colors I got. Vibrant and Fun were the first words that came to mind when I saw them.

I like that the buds come in three sizes. You’re probably thinking, “Well yeah even ten dollar headphones do” but the difference is this aren’t flimsy like other buds. Usually because the small buds are too small for me, I have to go up to the mid sized ones. With the KOSS Fit Series, I can comfortably fit the small buds and they don’t allow outside sound in when the music on my phone is on unless the volume is very low.

Another problem I’ve had in the past is the buds coming off, but these ones don’t have that problem!

They buds are really comfortable. When I first tried them on, I wasn’t putting them on right, well the clips anyway. Once I figured it out, they were wonderful. The FitClips are flexable unlike other ear clip headphones. Sometimes with the other kinds, my ears will get sore from the pressure outside my ear but I don’t have that problem with these.

I was worried the FitBuds would also be uncomfortable but I worried for nothing. They don’t slip out with sweat which was really my biggest problem when it comes to moving my butt.

For working out, I really love the clips. It there is gonna be a lot of movement, I just feel more confident having them in but that might just be sweatphobia from previous headphone let downs!

Yoga has never been something I’ve done. It isn’t that I didn’t want to try it but more of, where to start. Previous to last month, all I really knew about yoga was that you needed a mat and it could really help you with toning and balance. But that isn’t all Yoga uses. There are props for different yoga poses.

One such tool is the yoga block. From the couple videos I’ve found it can be useful for stretching, a head stand pose and more. I recently received the Manduka Recycled Foam unBLOK. It’s different than other yoga blocks because it has a curvature to it. It felt nice when I used it for stretching. As a bigger girl, corner and edges can dig in but this block didn’t do that.

I loved that this block was slip resistant. It can really make a difference if everything is sliding all over the place and be a huge hassle if you’re trying to get something done. You don’t have to worry about that though with this block!

Another thing that is great is that it’s eco-conscience. It’s made from 50% recycled foam. I don’t know about you but I always like when products are able to use recycled materials.

I really loved this prop and hopefully can start doing yoga more frequently to use it! It’s really comfortable, easy to grab and easy to use!

Every year Chris ends up working on Father’s Day. Since his hours can be erratic, we don’t really know when to do Father’s day activities. So this year we went to #MyMarianos in Harwood Heights to pick up the very delicious Todd’s BBQ.

Chris had had it previously and talked about how good he thought it was. Since I hadn’t gotten to try it out, I was really excited to. I had talked to my mother in law and asked if she was busy later in the day. Since she wasn’t, because we had Landon’s birthday party beforehand, we planned on getting together has this park that the kids really loved for a family picnic.

The food from Todd’s BBQ was delicious. It was a nice alternative to “fast food” and the price was right on par for the freshness. I loved that the BBQ sauce was on the side do people could easily choose what type of flavoring they wanted.

The Brisket was smokey and perfect. It was tender and I really can’t wait until we can have it again. Who know’s, maybe it will be the meal of choice for Emmie’s party in a couple months since it can be bought by the pound.

I also grabbed some pasta salad for myself because I really couldn’t resist. My brother in law really enjoyed it as well!

Chris had a really good day and I was just happy he had fun on his day off!

With the how crazy the weather has been lately, it’s got me thinking about how our family isn’t prepared for a any type of natural disaster. I’ve always been wary about weather and my family has never really had a kit. But with kids and seeing all the devastation this year, I thought it would be a good idea to start making a kit to prepare us for the “just in case” times.

I was astounded to learn that it’s recommended to have a gallon of water per person per day. If you’re staying home, then it’s recommended to have a two week supply and a 3 day supply if evacuated. I ended up grabbing about 4 gallons. While it isn’t the full amount, I plan on adding to it over the next couple of weeks. I also grabbed extra medicine and allergy meds for Landon. I saw that it’s recommended to have a first aid kit and extra medicine that is required for anyone in the house hold.

We are currently looking for a good hand crank radio still but I did find a wonderful Energizer Traillight to #lightmyway in case our power goes out and extra batteries because you can never have enough of those bad boys. The thing that I really loved that made it different from the lanterns is it’s has a night vision setting, besides the three bright light setting it had anyway.

The kids loved trying it on and I know that if we ever go hiking or out camping we’ll bring it with us because it’s so handy. And of Course Emmie needed to model the light so you could see the ‘flood’ and ‘night’ light. Also how fantastic her brows look with it on!

We don’t have everything yet but I’m still going to keep compiling everything so we have a fully stocked kit that could help us if a natural disaster happens to strike the area we live in.

This weekend the kids and I headed out to Long Grove to hit up the Chocolate festival there. It was only $5 for me and the monsters were free. It was something fun to do that was inexpensive and gave us something to do on Saturday while Chris was at work. While walking around, we found the booth for Mohawk Flooring.

The chocolate fondue fountain from Sweet Whimsey Bakery seemed to be hit with everyone who stopped by the booth. The kids loved this booth particularly because it gave them a #licensetospill! The kids loved making a mess and I got to learn about some really awesome carpeting.

The also loved helping clean up the mess. It was really fun to see what the carpet was capable of. I learned, for instance, that unlke other carpets, the Smart Strand doesn’t need a topical treatment to protect it. Actually using a topical treatment can lessen it’s ability of stain blocking. Another thing I loved, if you have kids, there is no need to worry about nail polish spilling on your carpet. If your kid spills nail polish, it can be removed with nail polish remover without discoloring the carpet. That’s a huge plus in my book.

The monster got tattoo’s out of it and I got to learn about some really stellar carpeting. I know that when we get a place were we choose our carpeting, this will be what we look into first. It’s especially helpful that Mohawk is the largest flooring manufacturer with multiple retail partners and carpet pattern options!
